Create documents that users want to read

Documents should be desirable – so users are drawn into the content.

Effective documents are a pleasure to use, maybe even fun. Strive for easy reading.

Don’t make you readers struggle to unpack the meaning of words and sentences. Especially when you are communicating complex and difficult ideas, express those ideas in simple and easy to read text.

And use an attractive layout – one that is pleasing to the eyes and that communicates the structure of the document at a single glance. No-one wants to read ugly!

And consider including some informative graphics. Not eye candy, but pictures, diagrams, or graphs that support, expand, or illuminate the ideas you are conveying.

3 things to strive for in your documents. They should be useful, usable, desirable.
