Writing persuasively – pathos
Aristotle says persuasion is a mix of ethos, logos and pathos.
Pathos – passion. People are more likely to be persuaded when it is clear you believe in your message and are passionate about it. It’s OK to write passionately (but not emotionally) even in scientific or government writing. Don’t fall for the lie that says passion and objectivity are mutually exclusive. Of course you can be both passionate and objective. In fact, if you have good objective evidence for something, it is likely you should be passionate about it!
